Vintage Canada Civil Defense First Aid bag/backpack with printed Canada Civil Defense logo and "First Aid" lettering. Stamp on the inner flap reads "C.H. Petch & Sons Ltd. Ottawa." (Dates range from 1957-1965)
The field bag has a shoulder or backpack strap, pockets on both sides, and the interior is divided into two pockets.
The Canadian federal government used a civil defense program to sustain public support for World War Two and afterwards for a defense policy based on possible nuclear warfare during the Cold War.
Most Civil defense volunteers where trained in emergency feeding, emergency lodging, personals, communication, engineering, radiological defense and rescue operations.
