Duster coats were originally long coats in light fabrics, with a high back vent, worn on horseback to protect your clothes against trail dust; hence the name.
This one seems to have been a mechanics work/chore coat. Made of a denim herringbone twill, it has four pockets - two at chest and two at waist - with two side entry pockets for access to clothes underneath. Back centre vent. Unlined.
